| | Posted: | | | | Edit: I made a new one with the Canadian Profiler, which is very attractive and condensed for website use. I took down the old one since I only have 20 mb of student webspace. The new version is at:

Fantastic program, I look forward to the next version.
This one has 549 files in all, at just under 10 mb. | | | | Last edited: by icon2480 |

For the record, this has been solved after a long exchange of PM's - Pete had virtual memory disabled.
Although the program does work better with large amounts of RAM, it has been tested and works just fine on a machine with only 32Mb. | | | Doug

| | Posted: | | | | Got it working with the DETAIL skin. Tweaked the settings file a bit to allow viewing of my covers from my website instead of sucking the bandwidth viewing covers from IVS.
This is something that I've been looking forward to as I don't run PHP on my site. So, THANKS DOUG!
How is the list sorted, by UPC? Is there a way to change the sort order?
My site here. Now, like Pete, I need to find a skin that I really like. Maybe tweaking Mith's skin...hmmmmmmm.

| | Posted: | | | | With 256MB you had virtual RAM turned off? Are you crazy? LOL... 256MB is tiny. I have 2GB and I wouldn't think of turning virtual RAM off. Were you trying to save space so you don't need a pagefile.sys?

| | Posted: | | | | I have successfully tested the companion with the DVD-Live Skin. It principially runs with that skin, but the companion occasionally stops when too many profiles are inside of the xml collection file (so I removed some). Did someone else encounter this problem ?
Creating a HTML site with the possibility to select a skin is a great idea and a great work, Doug. The main problem for me to make use of it is, that the design is "static" which means, that the html code of the skin is duplicated for the amount of your dvd collection. The DVD-Live-Skin, for example, has a size of 240kb resulting in 64 MB (only the HTML pages) for about 240 DVD's.
So, for huge DVD collections and/or big skins (mine has a size of about 1 mb), this would result in a lot of web space needed to store the information. And of course, you will have to regulary upload the collection as the dvd profiles are updated from the profiler and/or you buy some new discs....
On the other hand, I see no way to avoid that at the moment, because we do not have/need a database to store the collection information - everything is included into the html code itself which can be simply included into each web site. | | | Best regards,

The tabs work using the DVD-Live skin? That sounds great!
You mind if I translate that skin to English for my use?
Thanks, Bill | | | | Gotta nip it in the bud, Andy! |

Look at the size of his collection before answering that... (seriously, I'll look into it)

You've got the world's biggest collection and the world's largest skin - you are always going to have problems...
I do have some tricks up my sleeve to try and minimise unneccessary duplication - these are targeted for 0.5. I'm going to reply in more detail in a PM. | | | Doug

| | Posted: | | | | Mith,
The companion program kept crashing when trying to process 1038 profiles using your DVD-Live skin. The most I was able to process was 4.
This is fun! | | | | Gotta nip it in the bud, Andy! |

| | Posted: | | | | I got it working so that it made a bunch of html files, but do i need to do anything else. Do i just upload those to my web space? Also where does it get the images? I dont have that large collection, so an ability to choose the image size would be great The current images are smaller then the ones on the thumbnails folder.
Also while i was watching DVDP's image folder, i saw loads of "Image Not Available" pictures, eventhough every profile on my collection has cover o_O |

| | Posted: | | | | Well done Doug. I'm going to hold off until you can sort the title list, but I've played with it and like what I see so far.
This seems to be a great utility that will only get better. I can't wait for future releases. | | | | "the main database is protected by many fanatics who argue minutia over the rules hour after hour, day after day, year after year" - Cliff |
