Theoretically it would be possible. You would need a script, which takes the UPC and the title from the exported XML file and compare the UPC with the filename and rename the file with the title.

Perhaps somebody with more experience with XML than me is up to the challenge. It should be relatively easy.

What exactly are you looking for here?

Just the front covers (not the back), renamed to the title?

If that's all that's needed, I'll add that functionality to the next version of the DVD Profiler Companion.

I don't know what astensgaard needs, but would it not be simpler to just rename all front cover images to "Title (Front Cover)" and the back cover images to "Title (Back Cover)"?

Apropos your DVD Profiler Companion: I tried it last week. It works great. It's great to use it for automatically creating eBay auction texts.

The problem with that is that if you only wanted the front covers copied to your mp3 player/ipod/pocket pc, selecting them wouldn't be the easiest thing in the world (I feel the need to present a choice coming on...)

That's a use I'd never have considered - great piece of lateral thinking!

selecting is always easy (total commander is your friend) .. LOL

but for me the front covers are the ones that makes sense!
let me try to clarify what I really wanted to do (and why)

since I don't have a pda, or a phone with a web browser, I was trying to find a way (shot of printing a bunch of contact sheets with all the covers) to have my dvd collection "handy" when I go out shopping for new movies!

at the moment I have 700-800 movies, so once in a while I forget if I bought or rented a specifict movie!

so to help my poor memmory, I wanted to copy ALL the cover thumbnails onto my mp3 player which can show .jpg's

so that's why I came here asking for a way to get the movie names from the .xml to the file names so they would be easier to identify and sort

it would probably make sense to divide them into folders for each letter.. but other than that I really do think it would be a pretty easy way to get a portable cover gallery!

I'm pretty sure this would also work for ipods, but I don't have one to test it on ..

OK - I'll add it in the next version of the Companion (I've already got code to copy the image files and code to identify the title from the UPC, so it'll be fairly trivial for me to include)
