Does anyone know how to get covers and headshots to work right? I have the latest version. I have modified my settings.js file according to my directory structure. I have created the .java.policy file as asked in the readme. I have even copied the DXtmsft3.dll into my systems32 directory and registered it. All of this and I don't get any headshots or covers. I'm using WinXP SP2.

As you've created the java policy file I presume you're using sun's VM and not the MS VM. Do you have both VM's installed ?? Did you copy the java classes to the classes folder of your VM's and overwrite e.g. existing ones as they could have changed ?

The paths should be set to:
C:\Program Files\InterVocative Software\DVD Profiler\images
C:\Program Files\InterVocative Software\DVD Profiler\images\headshots
for your installation. What about gallery pics - shown or not shown ?? What about awards and ratings and rankings ??

I have this in the code:

The Following error occured in getHeadshots: TypeError: 'undefined' is null or not an object

which appears to be the only error.

Anyone know how to work this out?

Thanks...

The error would occur if:
- There are no actors or credits defined, so no headshots
- The routine could not be found inside of the java class -> old class
- The java policy doesn't allow the images to be read -> Policy editor

Let me correct myself on something...
I get cover scans but they are all the same on every movie. They are the "Image Not Available" scan for when there is no cover scan available. The head-shot is the same way, only it is of a silhouette or default image on every one.

A question about java:

I have to operating systems WinXP - one with the MS Java Virtual Machine and one without it.

Is it possible to update the system without the VM simply by copying some files from the system with the VM to it?

No David you will have to install the MS VM on that system.

I found with Google some pages with an exe-link to install the MS java VM. So I have to install it as a normal software by clicking on the file, right?

For the headshots: Did you download some e.g. are there any pictures present in the headshot folder ??

For the covers: This is only the case if no cover can be found. Please post or mail me your settings file (if mail: rename .js to .txt)!

Yes.. It did for cover scans but not for headshots. How is it supposed to work? Does the headshot appear when the cursor rolls over the name or do I have to click on the name? When I click the name it brings up all the movies that actor or actress was in like it always has been.

When you hover over the name the headshot will appear in the upper right hand corner.

Are you sure you did apply the correct java policies, e.g. images with all subdirectories , e.g. .../images/- ??

To your question: actors/credit members for which a headshot exists in the headshot directory are displayed bold. Hovering about the name should show the arbitrary headshot image.

There was however a problem with the original v1.50 release and the new 2.40 profiler version - the headshots didn't show up, which has been fixed some time ago.

I checked the policies 3 times and they were correct. Now according to the readme they contained back slashes, not forward slashes like in your last post. Maybe I have an old version of 1.50. I just downloaded the one from the link in your signature. Maybe it will work this time. What are the exact files that are different? Here is the instructions according to the readme, are they correct or are they supposed to have forward slashes?

  1. Permission:
Select "RuntimePermission" from the first dropdown.
Select "modifyThreadGroup" from the second dropdown.
  Click "OK".

  2. Permission:
Select "RuntimePermission" from the first dropdown.
Select "modifyThread" from the second dropdown.
  Click "OK".

  3. Permission:
Select "FilePermission" from the first dropdown.
On the right side, next to "Target Name:", enter the path to the image directory as follows:
<DVD-Profiler>\\images\\- with <DVD-Profiler> being the installation path of DVD-Profiler,
  for example "C:\\Program Files\\InterVocative Software\\DVD Profiler\\IMAGES\\-"
(The dash at the end will include all subdirectories.)
Enter the words "read" and "write", separated by comma, into the field next to "Actions:"
  Click "OK".

  4. Permission:
Select "FilePermission" from the first dropdown.
On the right side, next to "Target Name:", enter the path to the image directory as follows:
<DVD-Profiler>\\data\\infos\\- with <DVD-Profiler> being the installation path of DVD-Profiler,
  for example "C:\\Program Files\\InterVocative Software\\DVD Profiler\\data\\infos\\-"
(The dash at the end will include all subdirectories; even though it's not really necessary...)
Enter the word "read" and "write", separated by comma, into the field next to "Actions:"
  Click "OK".

  5. Permission:
Select "SocketPermission" from the first dropdown.
On the right side, next to "Target Name:", enter "*" (asterisk).
Enter the words "connect", "listen" and "resolve", separated by comma, into the field next to "Actions:"
  Click "OK".

Backward Slashes are correct, what I wanted to say is that you must include the "-" at the end of the images path as displayed above.

Yes, I did include the dash at the end. But it still doesn't produce headshots. You said before that the name would be bolded if a headshot was available but none of the names are bolded and I have checked to see if some of the names I had of some of the big hollywood stars and they are there. Names match in spelling and all.

I have currently no idea what causes your problem. Did you reload the skin - just to make sure you don't have an old one ?

Perhaps any of the others had a similar problem and has got a clue...

Yes, I downloaded it from your signature on your replies. I guess this option is just not available for me. I'll just use CATVids instead. It has everything I want and more.
