OK, one more time...

Could y'all please specify exactly what y'all want for the high-res cover files?

It appears that they should be about 200 pixels wide and approx. 280 pixels high (that's what the image sizes are in my Images dir).

So, what dims in pixels, and pixels per inch would you prefer the covers to be submitted as?

Thanks,
Clay

Clay,

The program limits uploads to 600 pixels wide (~ 120 dpi), so to contribute at the highest quality, that's the ticket.

Ahhhh, THAT helps.... I see now. DVD case is approx 5" wide x 120dpi = 600 pixels wide. Cool, and let the proggie proportionally scale if have to... though almost always better to crop than resize.

Since I hadn't had the opportunity to see any of the high res files, I thought we were limited to the 200 pixel wide images that come through low-res. You just can't do a whole lot with 200 wide!

Here's what I am using now to get consistent image quality/size, etc:

True Color, RGB
120 dpi resolution
120 lpi Descreen (moire reduction)
No Filters
100% size scan using a:
5.00" x 7.25" scan select frame which yields an approximate 1.5MB TIFF which I save as the RAW (reference) image file. I then use Paint Shop Pro to "fine tune" the image to 600 pixel x "whatever" pixel and save it as an uncompressed JPEG. Then I use Ulead Smartsaver Pro to compress the JPEB to 75%. The result is a fairly nice image that scales well between 1:1 and 1:3.

Works for me anyway...  Hope this can help some others....

Thanks, Ken!
Clay
