| | Posted: | | | | I think it may be interesting to have a thread on cool packaging, with pictures showing these silly things that make me drool days after days when I see them, and impress my (girl)friends a lot when I get them .
If there is an interest for this kind of stuff here, just let me know and I'll post more. But let's start with ...
ALIEN HEAD QUADRILOGY
The dvds are stored in the Alien's head. You can see more pictures here (scroll down).
It was released in Japan and is OOP now, but the good news are that it will now be released in Europe as well (France, Germany, Italy and the UK). In the UK, it can be pre-ordered here (HMV exclusive).
In France, here.
As with most limited editions, they are often sold out through pre-orders and never make it to the shops, so hurry up.
Jim
PS: I wish good luck to the one who will have to make a scan of the "front and back covers" for contributing to DVDProfiler. | | | | Last edited: by GandJim |

So you don't have any girlfriends yet, eh?
Sorry, I couldn't help it.

Another cool packaging ...
It has been released in Korea, is also OOP and is not longer available almost anywhere except .... a few copies left at DVDfromKorea (just do a search for "Band of Brothers", I can't copy the link to the specific page).
They can also be found on eBay but, watch out, the legit ones are from Korea and Region 3. There are some bootlegs from Thailand on eBay (region 0). |

A beautiful embroidered silk packaging (not to mention an excellent TV serie)...

Same story, limited edition OOP, but... it seems that a few copies are left at Layoyo.

| | Posted: | | | | WOW, that LOTR edition looks cool. Never seen it in any shop here though. But then again I have mostly been to smaller shops, not in any big one in Taipei.
What's that thing in fornt of the box? A deck of cards?

Apparently it is.
I think that I'm going to have to learn how to use my digital camera and crack open a couple of the sets I've got and contribute. | | | Walk down the right back alley in Sin City, and you can find anything...

| | Posted: | | | | lovemunkey, not sure it's a typo only, as I have to become to know it as a common mistake:
Thai refers to Thailand, whichz is something comepletely different than Taiwan...
I don't know e-tailers in Taiwan and unfortunately chances are very slim, that they have English on their site. But maybe GandJim can help.

By all means, please do!!! I'm crazy about packaging (as you may have noticed ) and am in a constant search for new gems.
Concerning e-tailers in Taiwan, JS DVD is a site in English. Unfortunately, I just had a look again and, although the LOTR box is still on their front page, the "order" link is gone so they must be out-of-stock.
Another site which carries Limited Editions (from everywhere, not only Taiwan) is DVDetective. They are also currently out-of-stock, but they sometimes get more copies so check back from time to time and touch wood. This site is good for reference, but they are much more expensive than the local sites in the respective countries. So I buy from them only as a last resort.
Other sites in Taiwan are: DVD Space PC Home Books.
As Achim points out, they are not in English and they also no longer carry the LOTR. They seem to go very quickly .

Edited: Just browsed the web and saw some copies of the LOTR box are available at HKFlix. Good news is that HKFlix is a US seller (specialized in Asian imports). Bad news is that the asking price is ... $ 400!!! . JS DVD sold it for about $ 200, DVDetective for almost $ 300... Personally, I find this price outrageous and will search more on the web. It's part of the fun. | | | | Last edited: by GandJim |

| | Posted: | | | | | Thanks for the JS DVD link Jim. Might come in handy some time. I remember looking for a local e-tailer but assumed they all would be Chinese Only. Then again, I have friends who could help... | | | |

| | Posted: | | | | GandJim in another thread you attached a pic of the Bruce Lee 30th Anniversary set (a silver 'book' that looks like the A Better Tomorrow set), do you own this or is it just an example?
I've been looking to get this but the places I usually get R3 stuff from are all out of stock. | | | Walk down the right back alley in Sin City, and you can find anything...

| | Posted: | | | | Yep, I have both of them (Bruce Lee and A Better Tomorrow)
A Better Tomorrow is still available at DVDfromKorea KoreanDVDs
Bruce Lee is very hard to find, but I think I've located one for a good price ($58). Check your PM (don't want somebody buying this last copy before you read this post)
