Can you fit one more letter in?  "Intl." seems more clear than "Int."

Skip, could you please add the following to the Studios page?

Acceptable:
Seven Arts Productions
Warner Bros.-Seven Arts
Seven Arts Pictures

Unacceptable:
Seven Arts

*Note that Seven Arts Productions and Seven Arts Pictures are 2 completely different companies:

- Seven Arts Productions Ltd. (often credited as just Seven Arts) was formed in 1957, and this is the full name of the studio, as seen in these links (one of which is a Time article from the sixties):

http://www.taxlinks.com/rulings/1971/revrul71-342.htm (do a search on the page for Seven Arts)
http://www.lib.uwo.ca/business/co_s1.html (again, do a search)
http://jcgi.pathfinder.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,841002,00.html

- Warner Bros.-Seven Arts was the official name of the studio after Seven Arts Productions bought Warner Bros. in 1966/1967. This lasted until 1969.
http://www2.warnerbros.com/main/company_info/company_info.html?frompage=wb_homepage (Check the section called A Brief History of Warner Bros.)

- Seven Arts Pictures PLC is a fairly new company:

At one time, some people were entering Seven Arts-Hammer or Hammer-Seven Arts as a studio for movies produced in the 1960s.  This is incorrect.  Seven Arts and Hammer had production deals for Hammer movies going over a period of years, but this did not form a new studio or production company; it was just a way of identifying that these two studios were jointly producing (mostly on a negative pickup basis, as I understand it) the movies.  Even if the credits say A Hammer-Seven Arts Production or A Seven Arts-Hammer Production, correct usage would be to list them on two lines thusly:

Seven Arts Productions
Hammer Film Productions

See Denis Meikle's excellent book on Hammer, A History of Horrors, for more information about the relationship between the two.

Yeah, it should definitely be 2 separate entries for Hammer Film Productions and Seven Arts Productions, instead of Seven Arts-Hammer or Hammer-Seven Arts. Warner Bros.-Seven Arts, though, was an actual studio name.

With the new release of "Babel," another theatrical distribution studio:

"Independent cinema looks good from Paramount's vantage point. Paramount Vantage, the specialty film division of Paramount Pictures, produces and distributes art-house films."
Erik

"Film as dream, film as music. No art passes our conscience in the way film does, and goes directly to our feelings, deep down into the dark rooms of our souls."

I hate what has happened with studios.
With new updates, Production Companies are pushing out Distribution Companies. The database loses its connectivity if no two movie profiles have any of the same studios. Some of us would like to see which discs have been released under which distribution companies, but obscure single-venture production companies with cute-sounding names have overwritten.

So when is the front page going to be updated with the MGM - 20th Century Fox change?
