I just voted "no" to a profile change that had eight prior "yes" votes and zero "no" votes. There was a false claim in the contribution note that everyone else just took (as they should have been able to) as correct. I sincerely hope that one "no" vote is enough to prevent the update.

---------------

And it should be if the the submitted update is incorrect and goes against the rules. HOWEVER if the NO vote is WRONG and obviously goes against the rules and the user only voted no because he's he disagrees with the rules. It's obvious no person is reviewing the submissions and it's only automation as an incorrect wrong vote based on an opinion and not rules is enough to get it declined.

Try contributing them again as is.

I wish, but he'll vote no again and it will be declined. Not worth my time anymore :-(

Well, despite carefully following the rules regarding common names for a crew member, my contributions for Alien from the Abyss (UPC 760137-125730), Seven Deaths in the Cat’s Eye (UPC 827058-106696), Naked You Die (UPC 030306-813097), and Castle of Blood (UPC 654930-302095) were all declined due to a single “no” vote from a user named Kvack on each one.

What’s especially frustrating is that several respected contributors, like Huskersports and GSyren, voted “yes” and provided clear, well-reasoned explanations supporting the changes. In the case of Castle of Blood, the vote was even 4–1 in favor—yet it was still declined. As I suspected, it appears that even one dissenting vote, regardless of its merit, is enough to block a contribution.

This really highlights a major flaw in the Invelos voting system. It doesn’t seem like the final reviewer is evaluating the quality of the arguments or the accuracy of the submission—just the presence of a “no” vote. You can follow the rules perfectly, and still be overruled by a single incorrect vote.

To make matters worse, all of my common name submissions that Kvack did not vote on were approved, which only adds inconsistency and further confusion to the Invelos database.

Because of this, I’ve decided to step away from contributing to the Invelos system. It’s disappointing, especially since there are already so few active contributors. But I’m not willing to continue putting in this level of effort—for free—only to have it dismissed due to one person’s opinion overriding the rules. Kvack could have simply applied his preference locally on his app if he disagreed, but instead chose to impact the broader database.

That said, I do want to thank the many thoughtful and dedicated users who continue to contribute constructively and uphold the guidelines. Your efforts are appreciated.

Copy my post into your contribution notes. Kvack is clearly wrong. I got your back.

Kvack is clearly in the wrong here according to the rules. However he still has voted "no" on several of my profile updates changing Antonio Margheriti to the common name Anthony M. Dawson as determined by this thread. I'm concerned that the person(s) in charge of approving profiles is going to see his no votes and automatically decline my submissions despite following the rules. Profiles he voted "no" on are Alien from the Abyss (760137125730), Seven Deaths in the Cat's Eye (827058106696), Naked You Die (030306813097) and Castle of Blood (654930302095). Two of the submissions (Naked You Die and Alien From the Abyss) only have his "no" vote with no "yes" votes. I could use some yes votes to get these profiles of the hump. I guess this will truly test Invelos' approval process because if my submissions get declined because of one users opinion, despite my submissions following the rules, then I will retire form submitting to Invelos as the system would be too flawed.

They also voted against the credit change for for Seven Deaths in the Cat's Eye (UPC # 827058106696) and Castle of Blood (UPC # 654930302095)

The Italian director Antonio Margheriti was approved to be credited to Anthony M. Dawson in the common name thread. (http://www.invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=891044&PageNum=4). He is credited as Anthony M. Dawson in nearly every movie. However a user named Kvack voted against the change when I submitted it for a title with a rude response:

"The Common Name decision was BS. He was born Antonio. Anthony M. Dawson was a pseudonym. His correct name is even given in the COLLECTION NAME."

This however goes against the rules. Could I please get help to get this change approved with yes votes. It's for the profile Naked You Die, UPC # 030306813097

This crap is why I hate contributing: the double standards. Rules state you can copy and past cast from previously approved profile as long as you source that profile you copied it from, but some asshat will vote no because they are unaware of the rules and then it gets declined. You can follow the rules to the letter, but 1 no vote is enough to get it declined. It really shows how flawed the Invelos system is and how people who approve contributions don't even read through the notes - all they do is see the no vote and "declined"

You both have great responses so it really could go either way! On one hand you lose a lot of information (not just alternate length, but soundtrack, etc) but you also don't want to clog up the system. I have it submitted and approved with the U.S. cut/retitled version listed as a "bonus feature" on the uncut Japanese version for now. If I hear for sure otherwise then I'll submit an alternate ID for for American Version. Thanks for your responses!

I have a question that I can't find a clear answer for in the contribution rules. I added a multi-film collection (The Bronson Lee Za Karate Collection) and the first disc has 2 different versions of a film, the uncut Japanese release and the edited/dubbed U.S. release with a different title. Do I add a disc ID for the original Japanese version and have the U.S. Cut listed as a bonus feature, or do I create an alternate disc ID for the different cut of film. Reason I ask is there are releases in the system that have disc IDs for different cuts/versions of films and I'm not sure what proper protocol is for releases that contain multiple versions of a movie.

Jesus Christ, I don't get paid enough to research all the credits of this person in the database. What a minute, I'm not getting paid at all lol. Invelos is basically dead so I'll change it on my local level. If someone else wants to do all that work for free, more power to them.

The Hong Kong director of Riki-oh: The Story of Ricky, The Cat (1991), The Seventh Curse, Peacock King, Her Vengeance, Men from the Gutter, etc, has gone by a number of different names over the years according to film credits. He has gone by Lam Nai Choi, Lam Ngai Choi, Lam Ngai Kai, even Simon Nam for Riki-Oh. Many of his films in the database have different variations of his name and I would like to come to an agreement to a common name for him.

According to the special features on the Vinegar Syndrome release of his film Her Vengeance, the historians mentioned that the director himself goes by the name Lam Nai-choi so that gets my vote.

It was announced on NuImage's facebook page (the production company) with the release title "Boyka: Undisputed", which happens to be the title on the title card. "Boyka: Undisputed" IS the original title

I would consider the original title as "Boyka: Undisputed" as that is the title on the actual title card of the film itself with the title "Boyka: Undisputed 4" on the U.S. box artwork

I've had a number of newly submitted profiles get approved on July 28th that haven't been released yet. In the past, all my approved profiles get released at 10:00 pm (mountain time) and can be downloaded as an update but nothing seems to be getting released now. Anyone else have this problem?

I got up to 7,000 and realization of my own mortality kicked in. There's no way I am going to watch, let alone rewatch, that many titles in my life time. I've started picking and selling off portions my collection because of it - like films that have been sitting on my shelf 10-20 years unwatched and films I never plan to rewatch again.

I get this same error on titles I provide new cover scans for. As soon as they are approved, they get this same error message. I've reached out to Invelos to fix this, even opened a "ticket" but they never responded.

Yeah, I've had 15 DVDs from warner rot form that time period, that feeze at the layer change. I know people that have 100+ succumb to it and it hits televisions season sets the hardest
